The Herb Society of America - Samull

Scope:  The Herb Society of America solicits applications

for the Donald Samull Classroom Herb Garden Grants program.

The grants are intended to help educators start an indoor or outdoor herb garden.

Funds:  Grants range from $200 to in-kind donations

of indoor herb growing stations.

Eligibility:  Public and private 3rd-6th grade teachers,

with classes of a minimum of 15 students.

hands-on experiences at thousands of unique destinations.

Healthy Sprouts Awards

Deadline: October 1, 2010

Source: National Gardening Association (NGA) and Subaru

Sponsored by Subaru and the NGA, the Healthy Sprouts Awards support school garden programs

that teach kids about nutrition and the issue of hunger in the United States.

Eligible applicants include schools and organizations that plan to garden

in 2011 with at least 15 children between the ages of 3-18.

The top 30 entries will each receive a $500 gift certificate to the Gardening with Kids catalog,

NGA's Eat a Rainbow Kit, and a literature package from NGA.

Youth Garden Grants

Deadline Date: 11/01/2010

Schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs, treatment facilities,

and intergenerational groups throughout the United States that plan to garden

with youth ages 3 – 18 are eligible to apply for Home Depot and the National Gardening Association (NGA)

Youth Garden Grants.

Priorities will be given to programs that emphasize one or more of these elements:

educational focus or curricular/program integration, nutrition or plant-to-food connections,

environmental awareness/education, entrepreneurship, social aspects of gardening such as leadership development,

team building, community

Western Growers

School Garden Grants

Fall Deadline:  Must be postmarked by November 15, 2010

Grantee Notifications:  by January 15, 2011

Schools awarded funding through Western Growers Foundation must:

  • Submit at least three (3) photos in digital format to WGF by the end of the school year
  • Photo releases (supplied by WGF) must be signed by guardian for any students in the photos
  • Complete a brief online survey by the end of the school year

California Fertilizer Foundation School Garden grant

Deadline: 01/15/2011

Through the garden program, CFF provides direct funding to California schools for garden projects.

The gardens provide an opportunity for students, teachers and parents to truly "grow" together.

They have expanded the program and are now able to

annually provide 24 grants for $1,200 each to schools throughout California (12 awarded twice a year).

The Lockheed Martin Corporation will give grants to nonprofits and K-12 schools

that propose projects involving K-16 Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM)

educational initiatives, community outreach, or customer and constituent relations.

To be considered for grant funding, organizations must be located or operate in a community

in which Lockheed Martin has employees, demonstrate fiscal and administrative responsibility and stability,

and have an active, diverse board, effective leadership, continuity and efficiency of administration.

The Best Buy Children's Foundation supports existing and emerging national programs

that creatively use interactive technology to make learning a fun and engaging experience for children.

Eligible organizations must be certified 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

Organizations or programs must also either be a national program,

serve a national audience, have a national distribution plan in place, or have national partnerships in place.
