Course Description: Mexican History

This course is a survey of Mexican History from the Aztecs to the present. Emphases include Mexican culture and its various elements, as well as Mexico’s relations with the United States.

Course Description: Chicano-Latino Studies

The course explores the influences that have affected life in the Southwestern United States (Aztlan); the role of the Mexican American in this region; and the contributions, problems, and growing self-consciousness of the Mexican American (Chicano Latino) a minority group in American life and history. A course goal is a better understanding and appreciation by all students of the history and cultural contributions of the Chicano Latino people. The focus of the course is from the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo (1848) to the present.
