Learning Outcome/ “Big Idea”/ “Essential Learning” (Objective):  Students will learn the difference between primary

source documents as related to Native American tribes. Children will learn through investigation.

 Children will understand the difference between real (primary) and modern artifacts.

TCI Strategies: This lesson involved multiple TCI strategies. Visual discovery,

 

Interactive notebook entry involving image analysis, interactive group work

 

EL/Inclusion Strategies: EL students and inclusion students will be paired with nonqualified students to investigate and classify

various photographs and journal entries. Students will stress the hands on approach.

 

Materials: 15 sets of various types of photos, drawings and journal entries relating to Native American tribes of the U.S that are

both primary and secondary sources. A rating grid for pictures, Master grid on the wall, sticky notes for each group to place rating
