Parent Involvement

Parents are an important component of the Ann Leavenworth community.  Parents are involved in a variety of activities throughout the school year, including workshops, field trips, classroom assistance.  You will see our parents on campus at all times throughout the day.  Many join us for the school-wide opening and flag salute each morning.

The Ann L PTA is currently re-organizing.  Any parent wishing to be involved in our PTA is encouraged to contact their child's teacher or Mrs. Zoller for further information and meeting dates and times.  This web page will be updated when additional information is available.

Our monthly newsletter, "The Shining Star," allows parents to keep current on school events and activities.  Each month a parent is featured in the "Star Parent" column.

Mr. May Vang, Hmong-speaking Resource Counseling Assistant, and Mrs. Susana Gomas, Spanish and Hmong speaking Home School Liaison, are available during school hours and at most parent activities to provide primary language support.  They are also available to assist students and families in strengthening the home-school connection.

Teachers conducted yearly Parent Workshops with hands-on activities to assist parents with their child's education.  All workshops are 6:00-7:00 PM. 2007/08 workshops are:  1st grade, Sept. 17th; 2nd grade, Sept. 19th; 3rd grade, Sept. 20th; 4th grade, Sept. 24; and 5th and 6th grade, Sept. 26th.

Parent Tours of classes "while teachers are teaching and students are learning" are held from 8:15 - 9:30 AM on Nov, 1, Dec., 6, Feb. 7, Mar. 6, and Apr. 3.  Reservations may be made by calling the school office.
