12. Today’s RED RIBBON WEEK THEME is
“Sober Wednesday.” Did you know: About 116 billion dollars are spent every year
for the damages to society such as divorce courts, lost work, health care, and
premature deaths caused by alcoholism. Alcohol is considered public enemy
number 1 by many analysts because it claims at least 100,000 lives a year.
(This is about five times as many deaths as all illegal drugs combined.)
Join us on the West Field
today at lunch to participate in a special Class Competition Drunk Goggle Relay
at 12:30. And don’t forget to wear your shirt backwards to school tomorrow to
“turn your back on drugs!” (Cox)
13. Don’t wait until the last minute…Get
your Halloween Dance tickets today. The dance is Friday from 6-9 in the
cafeteria and tickets are only $6.00. Please remember to bring your
ID card to the dance. (Asanuma)
