SENATE

1890 - Present

The Fresno high Senate is the oldest Continuously Active High School Club In the Nation. The Club was Formed March 21, 1890. A year after Fresno High open its doors. In the First Draft of its Constitution the Authors Wrote:

"It shall be the aim of this organization to give its members a general knowledge of the government of the united states and to gain facility in debate."

These are still the aims of the FHS Senate. The club meets every Monday night and is modeled after the united states senate. with each member representing a state and declaring a political party affiliation.

Senate Activities

  • meetings are held Every Monday evening. senate members are expected to wear senate attire.

 

  • In December, the senators act as docents for the Fresno high neighborhood associations annual home tour which showcases the historically rich homes in the Fresno high Immediate Area..

 

  • In January, The Senators host the annual Winter Formal.

 

  • In Spring, the senators help with the alumni dinner which is held at Fresno high honoring all FHS Graduates.

 

  • The Fresno High Senate will be holding its 121st Annual Alumni Banquet on March 12, 2011 at the Four Points Sheraton Crystal Ballroom.
