Hispanic Scholarship Fund for 2003-2004:

Program Eligibility

  • Be a graduating high school senior, class of 2003
  • Be of Hispanic heritage (one parent fully Hispanic or each parent half Hispanic)
  • Have a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.0 on a 5.0 scale)
  • Plan to enroll in a degree-seeking program at an accredited U.S. college or university FULL-TIME in the fall of 2003

Governor’s Scholarship:  The State of California is awarding scholarships for students that have performed extremely well on the standardized test SAT/9.  To claim an award, you must access the web-site: www.scholarship.com or you can call 1-877-728-4338 if you have any questions.   


The Vietnamese Physicians Assn.  @@Sons of Italy Western Foundation Scholarship:  High school senior that is an American citizen of Italian descent, planning to attend college or university.  Need official transcript, letters of recommendation, financial support statement, essay, and personal statement.  Website:  www.sonsofitalyca.org   Deadline:  March 1, 2003 


@@The Italian Catholic Federation Scholarship: High school senior.  Catholic of Italian descent, with a GPA of at least 3.2 or better.  (If either parent or grandparent is a member of the Federation, applicant need not be of Italian ancestry.)  Deadline:  March 15, 2003.              


@@California Strawberry Scholarship Program:  Children of workers who are currently employed and have been employed at least two consecutive seasons in the California strawberry harvest are eligible for this scholarship.  Essay, transcripts, and letters of recommendation are needed.  Website:  www.calstrawberry.com                   Deadline:  April 18, 2003.

@@Hmong National Development Educational Scholarship:  Applicant must be a Hmong student with residency in the U. S. attending an accredited college/university or graduate degree program.  In addition, students applying are required to complete the application package (application form, official transcript, letter of recommendation, 1 page about student’s employment history, involvement in community and extra-curricular activities and honors received, and personal essay).  Website:  www.hndlink.org

 La Estrella Latina de Carl’s Jr. Scholarship:  High School senior or graduates who plan to enroll for the first time in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited college, university of vocational school.  Applications will be available beginning January 6, through January 31st, for a limited time.  Visit the website:  www.carlsjr.com to download applications.              Deadline:  March 1, 2003.

Southern CA. Mother of Twins Club, Inc. Scholarship:  High school seniors, must be of multiple birth or a mother of multiples who has no affiliation with the Southern California Mothers of Twins, Inc., planning to attend college or university.  Submit application with essay “Why you wish to continue your education and why you believe you should be considered for our scholarship award.”                                    Deadline:  December 31, 2002.

@@PPG Industries Foundation Community Scholarship:  High School juniors must take the PSAT/NMSQT test.  This test will be given in October 2001.  Winner will be selected from among students who plan to complete high school in the year 2002 and enter an accredited U. S. college or university in the year 2002 to pursue full-time study toward one of traditional Bachelor’s degrees.      Deadline:  December 15, 2002.                        


The AYN RAND Essay Contest:  Contest is open to all high school students.  For 9th and 10th graders Anthem essay must be no fewer than 600 and no more than 1200 words in length.  Must be postmarked no later than March 18, 2003.  Contact:  The Ayn Rand Institute, P.O. Saint Mary’s College of California, The Presidential Scholars Scholarship Program: High school seniors must complete Saint Mary’s College application for admission by February 1, 2002.  An academic GPA of 3.8 and a combined SAT 1 score of 1350 or higher or composite ACT score of 31 or higher.

@@Mary C. & William G. Drake Scholarship:  High school senior that is interested in mechanical engineering.  Must be admitted to U. C. Berkeley, awardees will be selected on the basis of interest in mechanical engineering and outstanding achievements in academic studies and extracurricular activities.  Must be a U. S. citizen.  Deadline:  February 5, 2003.

California Association of Educational Office Professionals Scholarships:  High school senior, must have maintained a “C” average or better in high school and a 3.0 or better in business courses.  Must  have applied for admission to a post-high school accredited institution and plan to enter the term following the granting of the scholarship.  Be a U. John D. Isaacs Scholarship:  High school junior and seniors that have a strong interest in marine science or technology.  Must enter a marine science project in a regional or county science fair in your junior or senior year.  Seniors must have applied to (and by the following fall have enrolled in ) a four-year college or university in California.  Website:   www-csgc.ucsd.edu follow the Education like to Isaacs Scholarship.  Deadline:  April 4, 2003. 


Foot Action USA Hooked on Sports Scholarship: High school seniors. Applicants judged on financial need, class rank and standardized test scores, and level of sports participation.  On-line Web site: http://www.footaction.com.                   Deadline: January, 2003                  


The United States Coast Guard Academy: High school senior.  U. S. citizen, must apply to the Academy.  High School students accepted receive a full four-year scholarship.  On-line Web site: www.cga.edu or call 1-800-883-8724.                    Deadline: December 15, 2002.

The Fresno Madera Holstein Club Scholarship:  Seniors interested in pursuing dairy or dairy related careers at universities, colleges, and community colleges in California.  Must have a 2.5 GPA or better.  Activities, good citizenship, and financial need will be considered.  Two letters of recommendation must accompany application.  A personal interview may be necessary.                                        Deadline:  November, 2002.      


College Scholarship Competition:  Ivy West is pleased to offer a scholarship competition for students participating in the 2002-03 College Preparation Partnership Program.  Students who meet all of the stated requirements will be entered in a random drawing to win a scholarship.  Must attend class sessions, timely completion of all homework, completion o pre-and post-test during the program, as well as, completion of SAT I Test.  Contact:  Mr. Knapp 1-866-IVY-WEST or                         1-310-301-7130.     


Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarship:  Must be a current high school junior with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 who excels in three out of four areas:  Special Talents, Leadership, Obstacles Overcome and Community Service.  Scholarships can be used at trade and technical schools or at two or four year colleges for any career you choose.  Deadline:  January 10, 2003.   


Saint Mary’s College of California Scholarship:  High school senior eligible to be admitted, must have an academic grade point average of 3.7 or better.  SAT or ACT needed for admissions.  Website:  smcadmit@stmarys-ca.edu  Deadline:  February 1, 2003.

Youth Opportunities Foundation Scholarship:  High school Latino senior college bound.  Hispanic origin, at least one parent must be of Latin American origin.  Applicants need not be U. Skidmore College The Filene Foundation Eighteenth Annual Music Competition: High school seniors who meet admission to Skidmore College and apply to admission by January 15, 2001.  Students are allowed to compete only once.  Application forms for admission to may be obtained from Office of Admissions, Skidmore College, 815 N.  Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866-1632.                Deadline: January, 2003.

@@The National Alliance for Scholastic Achievement:  Seniors planning to attend an accredited four-year academic college or university, must be a U. Berkeley Alumni Scholarship:  High school senior interested in applying to UC Berkeley.  Write a description of up to three activities from the last four years in which you demonstrated significant leadership.  Attach a copy of your admissions application, or your on-line application summary, including your personal statement.  Must apply to UC Berkeley by Nov. 30, 2001 to be considered.                Deadline:  February 1, 2003.

California State Summer School for the Arts Program:  For one summer month, July 12, 2003 thru August 9, 2003, you will live on the campus of the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia and get intensive instruction in animation, creative writing, dance, film/video, music, theatre or visual arts from nationally renowned artists, educators and working creative industry professionals.  Talented and motivated 8th – 12th grade students can apply.  Scholarships are available.  Website:  www.csssa.org

National Federation of Independent Business Free Enterprise Scholars Award:  High school senior that will be entering their freshman year at an accredited two- or four-year university, college or vocational institute. Must be nominated by a dues-paying member of NFIB.  Must meet or exceed recommended academic standards, using standardized test scores (ACT/SAT), class rank, and GPA as indicators provided in high school records/transcripts.  Website:  www.nfibeducationfoundation.org

DeVry Institute Scholarship Program:  High school seniors who submit an application for admission to “DeVry” and who submit qualifying ACT/SAT scores will be considered for full-tuition awards.  Scholastic achievement, community service, and extracurricular activity and essay will also be considered.  On-line Web site:  www.devry.edu   Deadline:  March 7, 2003. 


@@The William S. Davila Scholarship Fund:  High school senior graduating from a public school, planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year college or university no later than fall term following selection of award.  Must be working in the food industry or sons or daughters of parents working in the food industry.  The food industry is defined as retail supermarket companies, manufacturers, brokers or distributors of food products sold in retail food stores.                  Deadline:  January 20, 2003. 


AXA Achievement Scholarship Program:  High school seniors who have demonstrated a drive to succeed through their accomplishments in high school.  Students need to be well-rounded, determined to do their personal best and have demonstrated achievement – at a job, sport, or extracurricular activity.  Visit website: www.axa-achievement.com   Deadline:  December 15, 2003.
