Formal Dance Policies

  • Formal Dance Bids
    • Request for a Formal Dance Bid may be picked up at the Financial Secretary window 3 weeks prior to the dance.  A Vice-Principal must approve the request form prior to purchase.  All Fresno High Students must have a 2.0 GPA in one of the last two 10 week grading periods and must have passed at least 20 units in the last grading period.
    • The student must have no outstanding debts or fines.
  • Ladies Formal Wear
    • Formal/Evening dresses are required and may be strapless or off the shoulder if they meet the other criteria listed below:
      • Dresses cannot be too revealing in the front/back or slit too high
      • Dresses cannot be "see through" or have exposed midriff
      • Dresses cannot be casual skirts or pants
      • Only appropriate jewelry may be worn, excluding spiked, studded jewelry, nose rings etc.
  • Gentlemen Formal Wear
    • Tuxedos, suits and sport coats with tie and dress slacks are required
    • All clothing must be in good repair, clean and pressed.  Jeans of any type or color are not allowed
  • Footwear
    • Appropriate formal footwear or dress shoes are required
  • Attendance
    • Formal Dance privileges may be withheld due to unexcused absences
  • Guest Pass Procedure
    • Guest passes are available from the Vice-Principals 2 weeks prior to the dance. Any students who wishes to bring a guest from another school or a non-student to a FHS dance must follow this procedure:
      • Passes must be filled out completely, guests must obtain appropriate signatures.
      • The Vice Principal one-week prior to the dance must sign the guest pass and will verify information and approve or deny guest passes.
      • FHS student must pick up approved passes from the Vice Principal 24 hours prior to the event.
      • Along with the guest pass, the guest will present a home school photo ID at the door. If the guest is a non-student, a driver's license or other photo ID is to be presented.
      • No junior high or elementary students will be allowed, and the guest may not exceed 20 years of age.
      • The Principal must approve any adult over 21 years of age.
      • Any adults 18 years or older must meet personally with an administrator before receiving a guest pass.
      • Guests must adhere to the same dress, school policies, and eligibility as FHS students.
      • High school-age students who have dropped out of school and have not re-enrolled in an educational program will not be granted a guest pass.
      • IF CLEARANCE AT THE DOOR IS NOT VALID, THE COUPLE MAY NOT BE ADMITTED.

      General Dance Information
       

  • Student Conduct
    • Students policy dictates that all students are to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful. Overt displays of affection (i.e. kissing, lying or sitting together in an inappropriate manner or any other behavior that is not in a good taste) are not acceptable are subject to disciplinary action.
  • Dances
    • To maintain safety of our students, FHS has developed the following policies and procedures for dances:
      • No tickets will be sold at the door.
      • Each student and guest must show a valid ticket at the door.
      • Each student must show some form of valid student ID at the door.
      • Each guest must show some form of valid picture ID at the door.
      • Students who leave during the dance will not be readmitted.
      • Students are not to congregate or loiter in the restroom area.
      • Sexually suggestive dancing is prohibited.
      • The school dress code will be enforced.
      • No underwear type sleeveless shirts, tank tops, halter-tops are allowed.
      • Shorts must have a 6-inch inseam.
      • No garments with see through material are allowed.
      • No gang related apparel is allowed.
      • No headwear is allowed.
      • No attire with lettering or drawing which depict sexually suggestive expressions/actions, profanity, drugs alcohol, or which degrade the integrity of the individual or other is allowed.
      • No electronic devices are allowed
      • Please do not bring valuables to the dance - because there is no storage available.
  • Outstanding School Debts
    • All outstanding school debts must be cleared before purchasing the bid.
