Cheating
|
Cheating is the practice of fraudulent
or deceptive acts for the purpose of
improving a grade or obtaining a course
credit. Typically, such acts occur in
relation to examinations. It is the intent
of this definition that the term cheating
not be limited to examination situations
only, but that it include all actions by a
student which are intended to gain an
unearned academic advantage by fraudulent
or deceptive means. Any form of cheating
will result in disciplinary action.

as a form of cheating or a violation of
honesty in writing essays, research
papers, etc., when a student represents
someone else's work or ideas as his own.
Students shall not engage in
plagiarism.

his/her paper or work (including computer
work):
- Is copied from another person or
source without attribution
- Is written by another person or
obtained from a commercial source; is
mode up of passages copied word for
word without acknowledgment of the
original source

Tardies
& Absences
|
It is important to be in class, be
prepared and on time. Work missed is
allowed to be made up at the discretion
and convenience of the teacher. If a
student is late to school because of
having overslept, missed the bus, or has
car trouble--report directly to class.
These are unexcused tardies, and the
teacher will issue a detention slip for
1/2 hour detention. If a student is late
to school because of a medical
appointment, illness, or family
emergency-report to the Attendance Office
for an excused clearance slip.
Parent/guardian verification is
required.
Students who are consistently tardy
will be subject to:
- Detention
- Saturday School
- Community Service (after school
work program)
- Suspension
If a student leaves the campus without
a PERMIT TO LEAVE from the Attendance
Office, clearance will not be accepted.
Absences are unexcused-parent clearance is
not accepted after the absence.
Because of the need to address the
excessive number of tardies the students
are accumulating, it has become necessary
to develop an on going intervention
strategy. The strategy implemented is a
"Tardy Sweep" policy that is used at the
beginning of each period.
ANY STUDENT OUT OF CLASS
WITHOUT AN AUTHORIZED PASS WILL BE SUBJECT
TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION!

Career
Pathways
|
The Fresno High School Career Pathways

acquisition and career exploration. As our
economy becomes more technical, it is
essential that the transition between high
school, post-secondary and the world of
work become increasingly aligned and
relevant Our goal through the development
of career pathways is to promote student
success beyond high school. We offer
career pathways in:
- Art
- Business
- Home Economics Careers &
Technology
- Industrial & Technology
We encourage our students to start
thinking of careers they may want to
pursue and to explore them now, at the
high school level, to prepare them for
their future beyond high school.

Early
Dismissal
|
If a student has a medical, dental, or
court appointment which require the
student to leave school, a note (from
parent, doctor, dentist, court) must be
brought to school stating the time and
date of the appointment. The student must
present it to the attendance office
BEFORE leaving school on the day of the
appointment. A "Permit to Leave School"
pass will then be issued by the attendance
clerk to allow the student to leave
campus. The dismissal pass must be signed
by the doctor, parent, or guardian and
given to the attendance office when the
student returns to school.
You should pick up the "Permit to
Leave" form before you are to leave
