1. Do I have to take attendance if all my students are present and on time?
|
Yes. California requires that teachers actively take attendance every day. By default, students are considered present. Therefore, teachers must click "Save" on the attendance screen in order for attendance to be reported.
|
| 2. Can I take attendance on the seating chart? |
| It is possible to take attendance on the seating chart. However, it is not possible to merge different classes of the same period for taking "concurrent attendance" on the seating chart. |
| 3. Can I work on my gradebook at home? |
| PowerTeacher web access allows teachers to take attendance and create assignments for entering grades within the same session. Historical information (already created assignments/grades) is not viewable. To connect to the PowerTeacher web login screen, click here or click the Teacher Web Access link above. |
4. How does PowerGrade work with PowerSchool?
|
| The information (attendance, assignments, & grades) are saved on the teacher computer and also sent to the PowerSchool server. If the connection to the server is lost, the gradebook will still work. The next time the connection is established, the stored information is then sent to the PowerSchool server. When parents and students log into PowerSchool, attendance and grades can be viewed. |
| 5. How Does Saving in PowerGrade Differ from a PowerGrade Backup ? |
| Saving in PowerGrade saves items such as grades and assignments. This happens every 15 minutes by default. Each time a class is "closed," a messge may appear prompting the teachers to save. A backup to the server saves not only grades and assignments, but also items such as customized settings, preferences, and student notes. |
| 6. How do I View Student ID's and Grade Levels? |
| Click on the Class Roster Icon at the top of the screen. Click the on PowerSchool Fields tab at the top of the Class Roster window. After selecting a student's name the ID number and grade level will be available for viewing. |
